Building local partnership through community parks in central Tokyo: perspectives from different participants

As community park facilities age and maintenance costs increase over the years, how to maximize the benefits of existing community parks, increase public participation, and use parks more flexibly have become the main issues of community park management. Using the methods of interviews and questionnaires in the case of Toshima Ward, Tokyo, this study explores: (1) The conditions under which the co-participation in community park utilization is applicable. (2) Opportunities and challenges of virous stakeholders. (3) Residents’ evaluation of park utilization. (4) The types of events suitable for the community level and how to adapt them to the target audiences.
